Birdwood Farm Day

Birdwood Farm Day

Farm Day is excited to partner with the National Motor Museum again in 2024 and as always, promises to have something for to suit every member of the family!

There will be all the usual crowd favourites - freshly baked damper and Devonshire tea, petting zoos, and a host of animal exhibits.

Milking cows, sheep shearing and working dog demonstrations along with log chopping, blacksmithing, restored engines plenty of other attractions to showcase the farming lifestyle and how farming has evolved over time.

Camel rides, bouncy castles, face painting and other amusement rides will be sure to put smiles on everyone’s faces.

As Farm Day is the sole fundraiser for Birdwood Primary School, the school’s representation must not be overlooked. The school will host a variety of retail stalls including our ever-popular Gardening, Sweet Treats and Port and Wine stalls. The students themselves are working hard on creating their own retail spaces in each year level too.

This really is a group effort with the whole school community being involved on some level, putting our best offerings forward for the public to enjoy!

As always, plenty of hot coffee and food choices to keep you full so you can stay and play the whole day long.

Children can use their imaginations while they 'build a city' with foam blocks or enjoy some quiet time colouring in, or challenge each other to giant board games like chess, Connect 4 and Jenga in our Kids Zone.

The Main Stage and Arena areas will host some great entertainers with live music, whip cracking and performances by our very own students.

Not sure how you will see it all? Purchase a Farm Day Trail Bag from the Info Stall by the entrance and it will lead you through the event, collecting as you go, ensuring no corner is left undiscovered.

Have we mentioned that each ticket also provides FREE access to the National Motor Museum?

Tickets on sale February 18th, don’t miss out!

All tickets must be pre-purchased via Try Booking.

Tom Curtain Music
Tom Curtain is a nationally acclaimed singer/ songwriter. This tour coincides with the release of his fifth studio album Nothin's Gonna Stop Us - the first release off this album "Why We Live Out Here" has had great success in the Country Songs Australian Airplay Chart staying in the Top Ten for 3 months and counting. His last album We're Still Here debuted at No.1 on the Australian Country Music Charts with all four singles released from the album also going to No.1.

In 2018 Tom won two Golden Guitar Awards for his single "Never Never Land", a duet with Luke O'Shea. Tom was also awarded the prestigious 2018 Australian Independent Country Music Artist of the Year Award together with Male Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year (Territory Time) and Single of the Year("Never Never Land") at the Southern Stars Australian Independent Country Music Awards.

Tom is also an official ambassador of Dolly's Dream. Moved by the tragic passing of Amy ‘Dolly’ Everett, who took her young life after being relentlessly cyber-bullied, Tom put pen to paper and released the single "Speak Up" with Sara Storer. To date, over $50,000 has been raised by the Katherine Outback Experience and Outback Productions through the sale of the song and branded shirts. These donations are used to provide useful and powerful tools for schools, children and family members (www.dollysdream.org.au) to fight online bullying.

Katherine Outback Experience
Owned and operated by Tom Curtain, Katherine Outback Experience (KOE) is an outback show that celebrates life on the land through real horse-starting and working dog demonstrations entwined with live music and humorous bush tales. KOE has won multiple awards over many years - most recently:
- 2022 Winner of the Brolga NT Tourism Award: Best Tourist Attraction
- 2021 Winner of the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards: Best Tourist Attraction
- 2021 Winner of the Brolga NT Tourism Award: Best Tourist Attraction
- 2021 Winner of the Brolga NT Chairman’s Choice Award for Tourism Excellence

The show is based in Katherine from April to the end of October over the ‘Dry Season’ months. Over the Wet Season summer months, the team hit the road, touring the Outback Show in conjunction with Tom's music.

The Tour Down under is coming through Mt Pleasant on Thursday the 18th January.

The Mt Pleasant Progress Association has invited the Mt Pleasant Community Association to join them in putting up some decorations to mark the occasion.

We’d like anyone who is interested to meet up at 5.30pm on Wednesday 17th January to put up the bunting and anything else people would like to contribute along the bike theme.

(We have decided on late Wednesday afternoon as winds are forecast during the day and we’d hate for all our hard work to end up in a paddock!)

If you have any ideas to add - please feel free.
