Young Driver's Awareness Course

  • Driver Awareness Course Charleston Community Hall, 1 Newman Road Charleston, SA, 5244 Australia (map)

This course is all about defensive driving.

You may be on your L's or P's and you probably think you can drive pretty well. But everyone can be a better driver. You can save lives, including your own and your mates, by making better decisions when driving.

The top driving instructors from the Australian Driving Institute will teach you how to plan ahead, look ahead and think ahead, as well as the best way to operate your vehicle.

The course covers defensive driving theory and improves your driving technique in practical exercises. Learn things many instructors don't teach!

Learn about:

  • Braking & steering techniques

  • Safe following distance

  • Understand alcohol, distraction, peer pressure, fatigue

  • Accident avoidance

...and much more!

Participants on their Learners license or P-plates who live, work, go to school, play sports or volunteer in the Adelaide Hills Council District are eligible for a subsidised fee of $70.

Learners and P-platers who don't meet these criteria are still welcome to participate but will be charged the full fee of $120.

Please note:

  • Participants will need to bring their own vehicle

  • Learners will need to be accompanied by a supervising driver

Upon registering you will receive an email with all the above information, and a request for some personal details for administrative purposes.

Contact our Community Development Officer Youth & Recreation on 8408 0590 to discuss your eligibility or to learn more about the course.
